Feeding Graham

By Canonshots
One of the most spectacular events at Australia Zoo is the daily Crocoseum show, where a number of different animals, some of them highly dangerous, are put through their paces. It needs to be emphasised that these are in no way to be seen as performing animals in the circus tradition, but wild creatures exhibiting their normal behaviour. Saltwater crocodiles are very fast in the water but very slow on land, so it is possible for the stunt seen here to be carried out in relative safety.

But this show took place during school holidays. Bindi Irwin, seen throwing strips of meat to a crocodile named Graham, was thirteen years old at the time. Bindi, the daughter of the late Steve Irwin, is quite an accomplished young lady. Not only does she take an active part in the running of the zoo, she presents her own TV show and has several books on wildlife to her credit. Not bad for a schoolgirl!

I ought to add that she was being very closely supervised by adults just out of the frame.

(Note to the moderators - the adult tag on this one is precautionary. If it is deemed unnecessary, then I have no objection to its removal.)
