Feeding the little ones.

By dusfim
Hi,

I came up with this idea and wanted to create it. I admit that it was bit difficult to work with one hand to put things in place. I used some polystyrene to and clamps to hold in position. With some high nerves and sorry to say with some light rood words managed to create this.

Regards
Mario

Another first class still life, Mario.

It would be possible to do variations on this, including the relative positions of the Stillson on the right and the small spanners on the left. Arguably, all of these should be the same way up. I see the point of having one different, but for me, it would look better if all three were the same way up, as well as evenly spaced.

A good idea that works. I agree re the spanners all being the same way up.

Niocely thought out and well taken.
An alternative would be to have the spanners emerging from the bottom left corner and looking up at a greater angle than here as though they were lower fown in the 'nest'.
A vote if it was in the main Gallery.

Hi,

The more I go the more I realize why all of you are in the critique team, nothing escapes from your eyes.

Honestly I didn't noticed this fault but it is a good point of critique regarding the spanners. Also it's a good idea from dark_lord regarding an alternative that would be to have the spanners emerging from the bottom left corner and looking up.

Wish you all a happy Easter to all of you.

What a great idea, Mario. It looks fine as it is, but with those few suggested tweaks, it could be even better.

Amazing idea and execution Mario. Some messed wires below the spanners would look like a nest, ooops!! You might need a second helper when shooting this.

I noticed you had closed the aperture too much at f/22 so you had to hold these still for whole 10 seconds!! There is no need to do so, there is no depth in the image becessary. I think you could go as low as f/4 so the lens opens widely and records the image much faster!!

I am thinking a new set up that could free your hands so you just hold the camera. You could place that perspex plastic sheet, you used as background, like bridge between two chairs. You can put a table lamp below it to provide light and after you place and arrange the tools (and wire) in place, you just shoot the scene from above. (Your feet won't be visible). Any room-light from high above will provide extra light so you shoot this in less than a couple of seconds.

I did do a mod, converted to a simple mono.
Cropped and rotated to put the spanners right into the left lower corner.
I wish the Stilsons were at a more diagonal angle, coming from top right though, just to make the frame much more dynamic.

You could use barbed wire as a nest Smile

Totally agree about the spanners all being the same way, and they are pipe grip's not a stilson.
Brilliant idea though.

The problem was to built the setup as I had to work with one hand. I used the tripod to hold the camera. Regarding all the critique and the suggestions I totally agree.
