Feeding the Orphans

By Kako
Mum got taken by a Sparrowhawk yesterday evening. Three young left in nest...didn't think they would survive the night.

We have given them the odd worm and some grated apple. Am hoping to buy some dried mealworm shortly. Not sure about their water requirements...any ideas?

Down to two now unfortunately...the Sparrowhawk is back for the young. Will have to move the nest into the garage otherwise both the others will be gone before tomorrow.

Thanks Lory.

Unfortunately both the two survivors have died also. One on saturday overnight, the last (my son named him 'Steve') passed away last night. He seemed quite lively and happy during the day so we were quite sad this morning.He/She wasn't alive for long but they brought us a lot of joy and hopefully what little they experienced of life and nature was better than being dismembered by a Sparrowhawk.

I'll post one last picture of 'Steve' tomorrow.

Regards

Karlo
