Feel the power!

By dudler
This is a location lots of people know, but as it's Film Friday, I've dug out some more scans of pictures I took on a school trip to London in the late Sixties: I'm guessing 1968, or early 1969.

This is now Tate Modern: then, it was Bankside Power Station. (Until I looked closely, I'd thought it was Battersea...)

The three other shots were taken in the picturesque streets around the station: how different from the South Bank as it is now!

Ironically, the teacher who led the trip was Pete Kearney, the senior Art Master. I was set on a sciences journey by then - but I hope that he'd approve of the way my hobby's developed...

Great to see these John but makes me wonder just how much will actually be on Paper in Years to come and just how much we would all have deleted and lost for ever.

Great set of images dudler.
The first one with the bird and the chimney is a strong story teller...
Yes, I do remember those Ford Transits.
No, I don't think he would be disappointed either!

The Tate Modern is a very impressive building, not so sure about the contents though.
The last time I went to the Tate there was a video loop playing of someone on a swing, is it art?
Going to have another look next week and take in the Yousuf Karsh, Caravaggio and Picasso

Gosh, how the area has become gentrified and touristy! Lovely to see it as was.

Wonderful images .
Why does everything have to be tidied up ?
I have never been in Tate Modern (?) but I did spend a happy hour outside with a group of RSPB ers , there scopes on a Peregrine ....probably better than any modern art .....Viv

There is a new Pope?
I hadn't realised there had been another death.

The smoke goes up the chimney just the same.
But maybe not now.
