Female Orange Tip

By Steve Cribbin
I wasn't really expecting to get any butterfly shots when I was out on this occassion as it was quite blustery. I came across this subject, that I now think is a female Orange Tip, and gradually got closer and closer to it. I then realised that it was hanging on for dear life and was unlikely to fly off. I set up the camera/ tripod and was actually holding on to the plant just below the shot to steady it a bit.

Your right in thinking it's a female orange tip.....Just goes to show that sometimes the weather can work in your favour. Excellent composition and a well detailed picture!

Great job getting the shot with that wind. I'll remember your technique when I try this sometime.

Never taken any butterfly pics but I love them (have you seen Celestun's butterfly tour? he has some wonderful shots)
This is excellent, might have a go myself!
