Fencing With Light

By chase
My 'out of comfort zone' challenge here was to photograph something in harsh light and outdoors.

Part of a fence at the bottom of the lane next door. The fence you see to the left is part of a small bridge over the Beck.
The light hit the stuff creeping over the fence...it's that sticky stuff that attaches it's seeds all over your clothes !

3 frame HDR combined in Lightroom, converted in Nik Silver and finished in Photoshop.
I like the shadows on the fence post.

Thanks for dropping by.
Constructive critique and mods welcome.

HDR is not your out of comfort zone WinkWinkWink, rather you have a lot of skill in these...Light and shadow images work often best in high contrast images along with a prominent figure or shape or pattern, and an HDR processing works just against it reducing the contrast of the image...

Quote:reducing the contrast

Do you reckon this could take a little more contrast ?

The light was very harsh and blew out some of the lighter grasses/weeds, hence the HDR.
I told you, B&W is so not my strength Wink
I did a quick version, increased brightness and contrast.

Light and shadow images depends on the contrast, don't care about detail, it emphasises on the shape or pattern...you can see here...

Did a mod...opened in SilverEfex, chose the High Contrast (harsh) preset as a staring point, chose Fuji Neopran ACROS 100 film simulation and tweaked the highlights and shadows in PS afterwards.

It won't be long before that fence completely disappears! Lovely detail and well processed Smile

I was thinking the same uncharitable thoughts about HDR...

The challenge is to tame the contrast without it. Should you wish to accept the mission. (Because wind happens, and plants move!)

Lovely light catching it, and a good composition too 👍 Both are equally pleasing, but I'm just slightly biased towards the more contrasty version 😀
