Beautiful still-life, Janet, I like the limited colours too and the hessian really suits the fennel.
We had fennel clumps in our garden in France, growing to over 6ft, made a nice screen for our sun terrace, and a lovely scent too (if you like aniseed balls!).

How did I miss this yesterday? It's lovely. Graceful stems and great lighting. I do wish however that it had a base. It looks to me like the hessian is a bit of a magic carpet keeping the whole thing suspended mid-air.
