Final resting place

By redstag
With such an Ecclesiastical name, you might expect Cropwell Bishop to have a Cathedral rather than a parish church. However a small church is what it has, dedicated to St Giles.

This is taken from the back of the church, so you are looking at the East Window here.

For such a small church it has a lovely set of 6 bells, with practice night every Monday. I have tried ringing them, but I must admit that I have forgotten all the different peels and so forth, so whilst I can happily ring call changes, I cannot get to grips with the intricacies of Plain Bob minor!

As many churches do, Cropwell struggles to find ringers, so I must admit to tinges of guilt that I didn't try harder with reviving this childhood skill.

The shot is HDR (No I hear you all cry, I don't believe it!) from 6 images processed with Photomatix3 which really is an improvement on the old version and worth trying if you haven't already.

The Cropwell series continues!!

Jonathan

ps Thanks all for the comments and clicks so far on this series, it has surprised me.

like the "open grave" in the f.g Jon

Its a great series and unusual to add vibrance to usually sombre scenes.

Now, there's an idea for a mod Dave, if only I had your skills with Photoshop, I could create an arm reaching out of the grave!

You have just viewed my image of the Omakau HIlls - thank you for your feedback.

I just love this image of the church and graves. I suspected it was HDR when I first saw it....

Cheers

Another fine shot in this series, like the way you've caught the light on the church and the detail in the stonework
