Another museum piece, this time in Alton, Hampshire.
Some close detail from a British Fire Brigade helmet, an iconic symbol designed to be lightweight, well ventilated and constructed in sections so it could be easily repaired. It was in continuous use from 1868 until 1938, making it the longest serving helmet in Brigade history.
There was very little colour, so I’ve presented it in black and white.
