Hi All,

Firstly a great many thanks to Joline, ChristineD and Alan_Baseley for their much valued UA's on my Destiny image.

This is a first for me, and as there are so many great Kingfisher images on EPZ I thought twice about posting it, however this was taken around the river running through the college grounds at my workplace, we had been watching them for a couple of years, in fact I had never knowingly seen one before last year. We invested in one of those cheap chair type hides and had a great afternoon, anyway this is one of my efforts.

Matt

A beautiful image, Matt - I wonder how long it posed for you before disappearing!

I'm impressed, because you are not a birder and this is a case of branching out into unfamiliar territory. And it's good. And at 1/13 second you were also lucky - fortune favours the brave.
I'm also jealous, because all I have ever seen is a flash of blue as they streak along the river below our regular Peak District hidey hole. But then I don't have the patience for this.
A chair-type hide sounds my sort, you may as well be comfortable if you have to be patient. I wonder if it would work with people?? Smile

Excellent image of the bird we'd all like to capture.
So although there may be many - it is yours and we know the thrill of a new capture or genre.

It is a fine shot of your visiting kingfisher, Matt; I have to admit that i have never seen one despite looking in earnest along our local riverbank.
