Thank you Carol. You may remember I picked your brains a few weeks ago!
I bought some extension tubes to see if I enjoyed macro. I think I will! Smile

A commendable effort with some nice detail. Advice to improve........ you are fortunate to have a good camera and the 18-55 lens can produce good quality. I assume you had the camera on a tripod, so the iso could be on 100 or 200 and an aperture of f16 would be fine for good dof. I find the 'live view' available on the 650d a great aid in this sort of set up to check focus precisely, use manual focus. The black bg could be a little more dense or smooth, try to keep some distance between the subject and the bg it will help. All this image would then need would be a crop from each side and more at the base.
Good luck and have fun, you have made a good start.Smile

Thank you Ivor
I will try again at the weekend (only time I have at the moment although I seem to have photography in my head all the time!) if the flowers are still available!
I bought some A3 coloured card to try out (green black red) so it's a little shiny. I will try and get hold of some velvet or similar and adjust the settings as recommended.
