First Light

By Porthos
There's about a thirty minute hike to get to this location overlooking Carlingford Lough. I have made this journey many times trying to get the early morning sunrise. On most occasions all I got was dull overcast skies or even rain. Thankfully I was a bit luckier the morning I took this photograph in that I was actually able to see the sun for a change.

An excellent composition, Derek.
Such a range of colours and tones, too.
A beautiful image.

Well worth that further visit to capture the early day light and colours here, the conditions playing so well into your hands on this occasion.

Nice use of the tree to frame the scene. I know what you mean about sunrises I haven't managed to get one in ages it always seems to be dull when I get up to get one but I suppose that's what keeps it interesting as it would get boring if you got good sunrises every time you went out.
