Fishmarket Fellows 3

By GavMc
Another one from Dubais Shindaga Fishmarket. This one was posed rather than candid, and even though they might look a little formal the guys were only to happy to pose!

Ive put the image through the same paces as the previous ones, albeit with my new skills courtesy of everyones advice: a crop, a Gradient Map B&W, a background blur and a canvas resize black border.

Ive put a slightly less background-blurred version up as a mod done prior to reading/trying Banehawi's tips on blurring.

Thanks everyone!

Love their proud-without-smiles faces. The glimmering fish add some contrast.
Very good b&w photo.

I like the fact they look serious, when at work. can i suggest one more little step in your process though... I would do a small curves adjustment to increase the contrast a touch and bring down the highlights in this sort of shot.

Hi Gav - another great shot. Well done in plucking up the courage to ask these fellows to pose for you. I do that a lot myself and only occassionally do I get a refusal. Also, I'm going to go back over these 3 pictures and study the advice everybody gave you about converting to B&W. I need to improve this skill. John

Lol, I have a few of these 'man with fish' shots from different places around the world. I love markets for travel photography. There's a great quality to the tones in this
