To my mind this is a very successful pic. You have caught the bird in a beautiful pose which has given you a good view of the head and the eye. The feathers are lovely. The bird is nice and sharp but you have thrown the background well out of focus. The crop is a safe one but I have no problem with that.

The only thing I would query is the colour. Flamingoes vary enormously in colour so I am not sure but I wonder if you have boosted the saturation here. The colours look just slightly on the garish side.

Great shot Mike. Agree with all the comments from Catherine above and in particular about having boosted the saturation. That said, I do like the end-result. My only recommendation (really minor) would be to clone out the white grass in the background that seems to be going thro' the flamingo's neck. This is the only 'messy bit' in the background and whilst really minor, I think it would improve the shot. Lowering saturation and boosting contrast a little might give the whole image a more natural look.

A lovely pose and capture Mike. I am inclined to agree with comments on the richness of colour. It makes a cracking image but does'nt quite ring true.

Had a go at doing a "Mod", but in toning down the saturation I have brought back the grass at the back, and maybe made it too light. Oh well, I tired.

You want some critique on perfection?
Great shot, also amazing to see such vivid colour in a captive Flamingo, they must be feeding him the right stuff, unlike Marwell Zoo in Hampshire.
