Flash In The Pan

By GPTek
This image is from yesterday at the Sealed Knot re-enactment of the battle of Woodstock at Blenheim Palace. An amazing spectacle of cannon, muskets and very dedicated people, that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone watching.

Thanks for the votes and comments on my previous uploads and for taking the time to look, comments always welcome.

What you see here is precisely where the expression "a flash in the pan" comes from.

The gunpowder was placed in a part of the firearm called the 'pan' and 'flashed' when it was ignited.

. . . you already knew that didn't you!?

Actually, I only found out last weekend when the "Siege Society" held a similar thing locally.

I like the shot by the way. I tried quite a few (dozen) but I kept missing the flash.
