Flooding Hebden Bridge

By jadus
My apologies for not being on the site for a while, the whole of our valley flooded on boxing day night. There was over six foot of water in the local pub and one of the village buildings has collapsed. The army have been drafted in to build sand bag walls by the river.

True to form I have been out with the camera photographing flood damaged buildings for insurance purposes; I am left saddened by what i have seen.

This is image was taken on boxing day night in Hebden Bridge.

Thanks

Jade

Jade, I know exactly what it's like having been flooded before.
Make sure you are safe while out with your camera.

I'm very sad for the poor people involved.

Very hard and sad times, Jade.. I knew Mytholmroyd was badly flooded, and just hoped you and your property were safe. How utterly dreadful for those flooded out.

Regards,

Jack.

Wonderful photograph, punches very hard. Red plays white within a dark and sinister frame. The shadowy figure in the foreground makes the photograph exceptional, though I doubt he is sinister, merely damp. The contrast between this figure and the red-umbrella man is noteworthy. Fab.

We are too high up to flood, our major risk here being high winds. But we saw huge expanses of water from the train window as we returned from London on Monday, water that shouldn't be there. While I don't know Hebden Bridge I'm familiar with Mytholmroyd, having played several gigs there some years ago, and my heart goes out to everyone in the valleys thereabouts.

Regards
Bill
