Florian

By TrevBatWCC
Opened on 29th December 1720 by Floriano Francesconi under the name Venezia Trionfante, or Triumphant Venice, it soon became known by its patrons as “Florian’s”, and was the most famous “botega da caffè” (cafè) of the day. Initially there were only 2 simply furnished rooms, and by the mid 1700s included 2 new rooms. At the end of the 19th century it adopted a resident ensemble, which can often been seen playing on the terrace outside (V4). At €8.50 for a Coca Cola I decided to give it a miss…

Looks a little better seen large if you have the time.

Wow now that's what I call a Cafe! Love the opulence of the rooms but at 8.50 for a Coca Cola I'd give it a miss too! A lovely set indeed Trev!

Fascinating building. V3 is my pick of the day, although each one could stand on its own merit. Beautiful.

An excellent set, Trev, my favourite being the opener - possibly because I too would pass on by at that price!

Now that's class! (Right down to the 'distressed' exterior). I bet they really hate the tourists walking past...

It has a kind of faded grandeur, and no doubt they need to sell a lot of coca cola to pay for the refurb ....
Lovely set, Trev, V1 tops it for me.

I suppose they've got to do something with the prices to keep the Hoi Polloi out. Looks like it's working too. Not a lot of customers inside.

An excellent set.
