Fluffball

By norton
We were at our cottage in France over the weekend when my wife,Nora, heard some screeching coming from the trees just opposite the cottage, when we went over to investigate a long-eared owl flew out of the trees and over our heads,we watched it go across some fields and return back to the trees, then a second owl appeared clutching some prey in one of its talons, that was when we spotted no less then four youngsters sitting amongst the branches. We watched the parent owls repeatedly coming and going with food for the nestlings for some time, what a sight see,we were so lucky.
The next morning there was more screeching from the nestlings,so i took my camera and walked across the field to the trees,it wasn't long before i located the youngsters sitting on some branches below the nest site, they watched me as i took a few shots of them and didn't seem to be bothered by my presence at all,in fact they didn't even flinch when the flash fired off.
Judging by the size of them i don't think it will be to long before they fledge, lets hope they all make it through their 1st year and beyond.

ISO400 Raw capture (Handheld)

Thanks for lookin...........

Tony.
