Interesting how it doesn't bother to tuck it's legs up nicely for flight, just lets them hang wherever!
Was this at the spot we found below your place? I noticed the Scarce Swallowtailks glided a lot there and I did for half a minute think about trying to capture it. I was never crazy enough to actually have a go tho.

I've no idea how you managed to capture this but it's superb! Love the colours, the lighting and the presentation as well as the subect matter, a well deserved EC! Jane

I have been trying a shot like this for years and finally found the technique! They circle around overhead for hours a bit like buzzards, but it's just a matter of luck whether they come in close enough to get this close.
Most of my previous shots the butterfly was much further away in the scene.
