Just add 1 kitchen window (not too sunny, not too cloudy) + 550Ex flash on camera + bestest buddy (just when she thought it was safe to pop back from NZ). Adjust hue and sats and thats it.
Let me know what you think, I'm just trying different techniques before I get stuck into buying lighting kit.

not bad the pose is great, maybe its a little to bright, a lightig kit wold give you ore control, for better tones. overhaul great shot. Paul.

Nice. Possibly a touch bright. Looks like you're at the same stage as me, experimentation wise.

Agree with the others about the brightness, you also have some pretty strong shadows, maybe a reflector in front, underneath would help? Good portrait though...Sarah
