Following the Farmer

By Acancarter
The farmer was ploughing the field in the distance last week, with a large flock of gulls following, so I captured this with a long lens from the garden (lazy, eh). The version has all the birds almost mobbing the tractor.

Thanks for all the comments votes and UA's on the 'mother' over the weekend. She would have enjoyed it!

There's something so wonderfully inviting about this image that I couldn't resist a play, as you'd enabled mods! Hope you don't mind. I love the way the furrows in the field lead the eye upwards to that tractor, and the line of birds. I even like the hedge at the top, because it provides a natural stop point for the viewer's eye, which then comes back down those furrows to the rest of the scene again. It's reminiscent of hazy, lazy days of summer, idle remembrance of times gone by and something from a lost era.

So enough blather - I took your image and played with it a bit, adding a slightly 'sunset' feel to the upper half mostly, then 'framed' it.

Thanks for the opp to play Grin

It's getting that time again. Time to get the field prepared. Two good images.

Like this a lot, and also couldn't resist a mod.

Thank you Tanya and Willie for your mods, and your poetic, constructive comments Tanya! I prefer both the mods over the original! You have both turned a rather dull 'mid day' shot into something much more timeless. I'd focussed on the crop and bringing out the texture of the ploughed area and missed this avenue for improvement. Thanks again for taking the time to look, comment and modify, so useful and helpful. Andy

Two fine captures, Andrew, just shows you don't have to travel far to get images worthy of an upload to EPZ! 👍 Think perhaps the lead just wins...😃

I do love the mods you have here, enabling modifications is a great way to learn and see things how others think they should look...that sounds wrong but I hope you get my drift.
Sometimes a different take on the same image creates such a very different look and atmosphere to the original without totally changing it.
But, you have to have a decent image to start with.
