For Fred

By achieverswales
Thank you all for your comments and votes yesterday, I have uploaded this capture as Fred (Badger Fred) said he would like to see the view without the tripod shadows, on yesterdays upload in the middle distance were some red buildings! I had an email asking what these buildings were, They are quite famous in Wales because it is the Tower Colliery, when the National Coal Board said it was closing because the coal was uneconomic to mine in 1994, the miners bought the pit with their redundancy pay outs and a large bank loan, they worked the pit until 2008, they had profits from the mine for 14 years, the mine is now under discussions weather it will reopen. This view takes in the Llyn Fawr Reservoir, the background hills are Breacon National Park. I was late commenting yesterday as my Broadband went down for 10 hours yesterday.

Glad you managed to get back on line, Trev: and with an image of two halves, a sunlit distance and heavily shadowed frosty f/g and scarp face. A difficult scene in which to get exposure right to both areas but you have overcome any difficulty and retained enough detail in the shadows without over-exposing the sunlit parts. Very well done.

Thanks Trev for the full commentary on this part of the world.
Sorry to hear that about your broadband, you are not the only one
having trouble. Irishkate said she had it too and I was wondering about
Dodds after moving into his new abode, we haven't heard from him either.
Anyway love your landscape especially with the frost.

Such a contrast between the frosty land and the warm tones of the land beyond.
Good to know that the Tower Colliery kept the workers employed for all those extra years.
Sorry to hear about your broadband. To think that I never used to bother with the computer!

Very well captured, Trev, love the foreground where the sun has not yet burnt off the frost. Sorry to hear of your broadband problems, isn't it frustrating Sad Carol

The frost in the foreground looks mighty chilly whereas the light in the distance a lot warmer. A beautiful landscape - well taken Trev. Glad you're back up and running (internet-wise) - and hopefully health-wise too! Smile
