Forest floor

By charlesym
An attempt at a "forest floor" still life - in the style of Marseus van Schrieck, a 17th century painter from the Dutch Golden Age. It's quite a complicated composite of about 40 photos. I still need to practise more - but I've got the time Smile

Having looked up van Schrieck's works, I can certainly see where you are coming from. I reckon it's a very good likeness. Not sure about the grey/light area round the snake, but the rest of it hangs together really well. More please.

This needs to be viewed on the black bg, surprising how much better this is seen and how much more I can see.
Well put together, good manipulating skills.
Perhaps would have liked to have seen just a drop more light on the tree roots just to separate them a touch from the subjects. Other than that I do like the darkness you have created generally.
Fiona has a very good point ref the lightness around the snake.

Thanks guys - they greyishness(?) was a poor attempt to add some mist (not helped by the fact that the snake is grey in the first place). I think I'll take the mist out.But it's a starting point - onward and upward!
