Forgoten War memorial

I found this very sad war memorial in the coamp that my last few photos are from. It is shameful that the monument has been sprayed over....but thankfully on the otherside and not the dedication. As far as the photo goes...do you think B&W suits the mood I am trying to depict?

I think the b& w suits, how sad though that it is so neglected.
