Ever notice when birds fly in a V formation, one side is always slightly longer than the other?
This is because there are more birds on that side..

Re: untidy---they exchange places every now and then to allow some to rest in the wind draft while others fly hard-- certainly does look messy

I have no idea how they know when and who gets to rest???
