Works really well in B/W thanks to the structure in the grass. I like it

I'm the same when it comes to B & W conversions, but this is so well suited.

the conversion works very well indeed, but I think the cloud area could be a little softer to bring out the foreground detail. I took the liberty of posting a modified version, hope that was OK.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks for the mod, Dave. I had a play with this on similar lines as well, and chickened out! I think the blur adds more tension to the image (which I like), but my conservative side got the better of me. Anyway, I like. Smile

Good composition, wide range of tones and loads of detail make this a quality b&w (IMO).

The b/w conversion seems to add drama to the image, so for me it works well.

On my monitor it looks a little too contrasty. But you are definitely on to something with this look. There is lots of detail everywhere and the comp is first rate. And the data is in there, so it is not as though it is a bad exposure or anything.

Thanks Patrick - I agree that it looks contrasty on my calibrated monitor. I think I need to hold myself back a little when doing the toning work, and I think that will come with practice. I appreciate the constructive feedback. Smile

Hi Pete! Hope you're doing OK - you must have been as busy as me recently if this is your most recent upload...

Dunes are a great subject for B&W conversions and I think you've done well with this, although it may be too constrasty for some... There's lots of detail in there though and I love the clouds!
