Nonsense! This is a complete winner. Deluxe colour, perfect instant and a just right crop. What else is there? TG

I'm seeing levitation here, he's on his way back up ... Wink
More seriously, this is strong but watch your shutter speed. I wouldn't want anything slower than 1/1000 or even faster to be on the safe side, with action like this.
If you are thinking of entering this one, look at the effect of cropping off the strip of upper fall. It would avoid an eye-catching distraction at the top of the frame and by putting more space proportionally below the subject it could increase the sense of the drop.

Far be it for me to disagree with a highly respected member of the critique team, BUT (here goes!) I think the shutter speed is spot-on. The main subject is beautifully sharp suggesting excellent technique (although the point of focus appears to be the hull of the boat rather than the canoeist), but there is movement in the water which works very well here. I hate it when photographers use a very fast shutter in action shots and freeze everything, which to me loses so much. This is not a portrait. It's an action shot, so let's see some evidence of the action, and this shot does just that. I think it is close to perfection as it is.
