I'm afraid, I also fail to see anything friendly here. Only the girl seems to be preparing for smt noughty. The couple look totally disinterested, if not unfriendly. Even the father(?) looks away, or he is looking at the unseen person. However you say that this is different, may be that's what you mean.
It's a nice photo, though. I like the girl and the comp!

There's a tension in this image, maybe the fact that people are in a different situatuin, on the boat, not relaxed?
