From another angle

By Hurstbourne
Taken in 2019 this photograph is yet another view of the Great Bath at the Roman Baths in Bath, Somerset. I have decided to post it in colour rather than change it to monochrome to help emphasise the richness of the architecture. It is hard to visualise now but there would have been nothing surrounding the roman baths at the time.

Amazing place indeed, especially all the early artefacts they found when draining it, including ‘wishes’ written on flattened lead tablets for health and prosperity and thrown in. Finger rings with carved stone intaglios seem to have fallen off people too, quite a few examples discovered in the drains and overflows of the baths. Such a glimpse into society 2000 years ago. Hopefully it will be protected for many years to come 👌
