Thanks for your comments. Sue - I do quite like the halo but as a beginner any fancy stuff I do is kind of 'post-processing-by-numbers' ie not terribly skilled/controlled so it will be interesting to follow your suggestion up and I will see how I could adjust/fix the halo.

Hello - interesting effects. I like the colours - the purple of the pebbles seems to be matched in the cliffs behind.
I've formally applied for redundancy now...just waiting to hear what they say. In the meantime, I have bought myself an early birthday present of a Canon EOS 300D...which I can't really afford, especially if made redundant. Ooopsie!

Lovely view, and very interesting effect, nicely captured.
Suse, a lovely composition that works well, I like the post placed boldly in the foreground. Interesting textures on the woodwork too. The colours of the pebbles are attractive and reminded me of times past spent at Porlock Weir. I am familiar with both hdr and the Orton effect, but think in this instance perhaps not used both together. It's just that the haloing is a little too much in my opinion, just trying to be constructive and I'm impressed with the use of your compact!
