Frost Fringe

By almiles
Bit wretched at the weekend for photography and short on free time too but I managed this on Saturday heading home from nightshift. Hoar frost was covering most surfaces changing the way everything looked, especially trees giving an almost IR feel. This flock of oyster catchers hadn't yet started to move about and warm up. This particular bend in the Spey had been one in my mind for a panoramic crop so was composed as such (otherwise you get a lot of sky!).

Blimey, thats sent a chill through my old bones...... A lovely shot all the same and I like the composition on this one, the river leads the eye through the scene nicely.

Winter magic recorded so well, Alan: an image where the exclusion of sky is so appropriate, and a crop that enhances the appearance of the Z bend in the river.
Does look mighty cold.

Lead ins don't come much better than this, Al, the meanders emphasised by the panoramic crop. The frost gives such beauty to the trees. Lovely image. One of the advantages to working nights!!

The one best part of working the night shift was coming home in the morning and seeing the world before everyone had fully awoken. This is wonderful.
