Frosty morning

By flossie
Not my usual thing at all so please feel free to nitpick.
Finally managed to get out with my new camera last week, was a lovely frosty morning. Took loads but there were only a couple I was happy with, trying to stay away from flowers for a bit and broaden my horizons. Quickly learning that what looks good to my eye doesn't necessarily make a good picture :o(

works really nicely, well done!

To answer your question from a while back:

Ponty Carlo is the same... grey and miserable!

I did have a great xmas though, my son Joel loved it (he's only 20 months). First xmas he really understood! Magical for him.

How are you getting on?

Hiya Gav, thanks for looking.
I'm ok ta, bit of a sad Christmas without my dad but you've got to get on with it haven't you.
Had a good night out in Garforth last Saturday, not too far from you.
Read somewhere that you have a baby on the way ...congratulations :o)

I like this, you have put time in to the composition, I like the way the wall looks to have fallen across the way

I like this Anne, even if it makes me feel cold Wink. K.

Like the use of the wall as a lead into the picture but find it just a little soft. Was it not possible to have gone a little to the left so that the wall was more diagonal in the frame? Have done a slight modification for you.

Great shot, but must agree with akh about the framing of the wall.

Bg is a slightly overexposed, but nothing that an nd filter couldn't fix, and in my opinion would be well worth a revisit, as this has the potential of being a really superb piece of photography. The fg is spot on, well detailed and using the wall as a superb lead-in taking ones eye right through the image. As I say the only downside then is that the bg does burn the eyes somewhat.

Paddy just walked in the room as I was looking at this image Anne . She said oh that is nice ,I do likeit but would have preferred it diagonal. Took the words out of my mouth . Still walls done move so perhaps if you get such a splendid day as this again you will be able to go back . You are doing a fine job with your new camera . xx

Anne, I rarely go onto the forum so just saw your sad news, my thoughts and prayers to you and your family, I recently did a picture called "Prayer" it was very sad and it was done because one of the young recovering addicts had died over the Christmas season, seemed to me like he had thrown his life away when there are so many folk who want to live!! I cannot judge him though.
Not the same as what you are going through I know, but grief make us all equal, my love to your Dad, in his safe place now!
Take care

Hi Anne, really sorry to hear of your sad news.

Like this shot very much, I tried to take one like this from the other end but it didn't work out anything like as well as this, reminds me just how cold it was...click, all the best Mac

Nice composition. The eye is led into the shot well with the wall and fencing, an effective image, I like it.

The thought struck me that this would, perhaps, have been more effective had the mist been thicker to lose the horizon.

Thanks Brian, always nice to get comments on older pictures ...I have a couple of versions of this and I have a feeling on first ones I shot you couldn't really see the trees at all.
Thanks everyone else, sorry I missed your comments, had a lot of computer trouble since Christmas so haven't been on here very much.

I like this one, how I missed it before I don't know.
