Frozen Rose

By maryg
After all those landscapes time for a change. This poor climbing rose has been struggling through the snow and heavy frost. Though it deserved some special treatment so had a play around with PSP and came up with this.
V1 the original image with a simple frame
V2 used the geometric tool in PSP
V3 added a frosty kind of frame , possibly overdid it.

Would be really interested in your reactions.
Thanks for all C/Cs on the Misty Loch Fyne shot.
Regards Mary

Sorry Linda I uploaded the wrong version , thanks for your comment

Well I really love the original image is is superbly simple and starkly beautiful - so I don't really like the manipulations you just can't improve on nature and I don't really feel you need to frame this image with anything other than the thinnest possible black line.

Having said that it is enormous fun to do these things especially when teh original is as good as yours.

Exquisite capture Mary - lovely tones and light. Definitely V1 for me although the other versions are clever but, IMHO, do detract from the elegant simplicity of V1.

Have to agree with all of you . I had put up the circle manipulation but as soon as I saw it in the thumbnail felt that the simplicity of the original was much better which is why I was looking for reactions. Thanks everyone for the good advice , will leave well alone in future.

Sylvia has put it so well and I do tend to agree with her remarks. V1 is delightfully elegant. However with a subject like this, I think that one can go a bit OTT, so V 3 sits well with me too. Very attractive [processing on your part, Mary.

Lovely images. Have done a mod on #1 and #2, basically to increase the contrast.

On both, I reduced the brightness by -9 and increased the contrast by +20.

Hope you like them,

V.1 is stunning, Mary, but I also think the two versions work well, particularly V.2. Carol

a lovely shot that would have benefited from a dedicated macro lens, which would have turned this shot into a real stunner
