Quote:This one is very effective and demands attention, which means it works. Was the full reflection there or does the container preclude that? If it were, a portrait format with full reflection would be quite something.
Paul
I think it is the position of the camera that illiminates all of the reflection, but may be a larger or at least longer container would prove useful

You are trying different angles, but I think your previous image worked better because it included the reflection, and was taken from a more effective angle. I think the forward tilt worked better.
The tissue paper colouring works well, and I like the colour combination you chose.
I know this takes a lot of patience and admire you for all your efforts and perseverance.
I have done a modification where I straightened the image using the extremities of the bowl edge. It was only minor.
I cropped all sides, but particularly the bottom, so that there isn't so much of the reflection showing. This helped alleviate my desire to see the rest of the refection included. Then an automatic adjustment which changed the blacks and whites for a more contrasty image and a bit more sparkle.
Pamela.

Much better.
I know that youve read THIS LINK before, and I read it before I commented. It may be worth reading again.
The key as far as I can see, is the set up of the flash, especially the power level, and the shutter speed used, which for her is 1/60th She has a pertinent comment about a technique for including the reflection.
Definitely progress.

Some softness might be the result of ambient light that is bright enough to register drops that are moving fast. Odd that it only happened with some drops...
I really like the complicated shapes you've got - I was disappointed not to be able to vote, and was thinking of an award.
The missing reflection is a minus point, as is the curved 'horizon' obviously it is actually curved, as it's the edge of a bowl!

Thank you all for the comments; and of course the mod, your time is very much appreciated.
While enjoying a glass or several of wine last night, watching how a residue of wine lingers on the side of the glass as I pour it down my throat; I have come to the following conclusion, which I will ask Willie to explain because he has a more scientific mind than I, actually, he has a mind and I currently don't.
Given that there was very little ambient light and I know that the density of the liquid was too much, I think the soft focus in parts, is possibly due to the density of the liquid, such that it is heavy and therefore not responding as I would expect................ answers on a post card please
