Fungi Clusters

Fungi Clusters
....of an unknown variety

A friend who know that I like to use a broken apart log for a bird feeder during the winter---- received a call from an elder---seems a tree came apart in a storm---the pieces were covered with bugs, would he come and take care of it?

The "Bugs" turned out to be honey bees trying desperately to save and relocate their honey. So---he left it---and after all was said and done, he brought the shattered logs to me---

The above is one of them---the woodpeckers were hard at work for some time digging out the bee larvae, the wax and some honey-- and so on------ then come summer, the stump just sat and waited--- until the other day I saw that it was now colonized with fungi!

Keep a watch all--- falling leaves are happening!
OH, and I just notices a little face in the image!

Good shot of this fungus, one which I have to admit is knew to me, Jenn: not a clue about ID.......I have looked through my 'fungus bible' and cannot find anything that resembles this, but if i was forced to guess I'd suggest some species of Oyster mushroom as a possibility.
