Gannet chick reaches inside mother's throat for regurgitated food.

By AnnJ
At first glance this image might look grotesque, as if the mother is devouring her chick! But you need to see it as part of a sequence. If you look in my portfolio and start by looking at firstly "Gannet feeding young", followed by this image,"Gannet chick reaches inside mother's throat for regurgitated food," and ending with " Gannet family, mother regurgitating food for chick" it becomes more clear. Apparently this sequence of events only happens when the chick is very young.
