Gaudi's Sculptures

By conrad
Some of Gaudi's famous sculptures on the roof terrace of La Pedrera, Barcelona.

It's a weird and wonderful building, and the roof is very interesting, but unfortunately safety seems to have been more important than aestethics: they put up fences all over the place, and not even in Gaudi style, but just plain old ugly ones. See the original I will upload as version 2 of this image - I had a bit of cloning to do, as you can see! Oh, and yes - I did clone out those Sagrada Familia spires as well - they had no business being in this shot... Wink

What is your sharpening procedure, Conrad?
Did you sharpen it once, twice or 3 times?

Once. Same settings as I indicated yesterday. Version no. 2, the original, is unsharpened this time.

Conrad, Know the problems you had. Went to barcelona last year and I have to admit to being very disappointed. Weather was terrible, construction work everywhere, restaurant staff that could not be bothered to serve etc etc. As a big art and architecture lover nit somewhere I would go back to anytime soon .
That said you have done this justice.

Oh, don't get me started about restaurants - by the time we had seen all we wanted to see during the day, we were exhausted, just fell on our hotel beds and couldn't be bothered to go out for a meal once the Spanish finally decided to open their restaurants, halfway the night.

Anyway, thanks for your comment!

These are the " Witch hunters/ scarers " I think. Found on the Casa Mila also. Sumpteous architecture Conrad. Ron.

Casa Mila is part of La Pedrera, Ron. If I understand it correctly, La Pedrera is the name for the block, and Casa Mila is the part which we visited. But that reminds me, I may want to add Casa Mila to the key words.

Thanks for your comment!

Thanks for the mod, Cole! Less fringing, but the same messy sky I had in my original, which I got rid off. I suppose it was a bit of a trade-off. And yes, the original was somewhat underexposed. I was tired of getting burnt-out areas on my pictures in the harsh light.

Quote:Less fringing

thats the point i wanted to get across, hence my sharpening question. Same as the previous one.
Messy sky is due to underexposed shot, I think. I didn't really take care of that and also the cloning.
You just need to check your histogram regularly, Conrad.

The histogram is one thing I need to start understanding better, Cole, that's probably one of my problems as a digital photographer.

You are one of the people on my "favorite" list. Forgive me if I do not make a comment every time I vote on your photos. I am so busy with the flying lately that I just do not have the time to make a sensible comment. This does not mean that I just "click" to give you a vote. Now and then I may surprise you with a written contribution!! Regards.

Don't worry, Georg, I think I have a pretty good idea of how busy you must be, so I appreciate it if when click, and I appreciate when you comment - any kind of visit to my portfolio is welcome, and both kinds get noticed and are appreciated! Thanks...

Usually I try to avoid cloning, but this is such a good angle that cloning was the right way to go, and it looks good too. And it was good to get some more contrast in there as well.
