Gaudy Commodore

By Mike_Smith
I think this one is called a Gaudy Commodore, from Africa. If i am wrong please let me know. I never realised just how many Butterfly species there is.
Last night i went down to Redcar to take some shots of the sunset, i had a nightmare, i was going down a wide concrete ramp on my mobility scooter what the boats use to get to the beach. Half way down i stopped to take a shot, i had my camera on a tripod, then i moved further back and these scooters have a slight delay before the brakes come on and i was too close to the edge and went over backwards, the camera went flying i ended up on my back with the scooter on top of me, bit bruised but ok. The camera seems to be ok thanks to the hood on the lens which took the impact. So from now on i am sticking to my wildlife its much safer lol.

It seems i got the ID wrong this is a Red Lacewing thank you to Karen FB for that

A gorgeous capture, beautiful colours and details - I think it's a Red Lacewing. Smile

It must have been really frightening for you, those mobility scooters look very heavy - I hope someone came to your aid quickly!

What a beautiful butterfly. His colours remind me of a flamenco dancer.
