Getting To The Point

I happened to glance out of the kitchen window and spotted this little one, trundling along the top of a wall - I'm not sure which one it is (could be White Ermine moth). Its little prickles looked so shiney in the sunlight!

What happens to all the little prickles when it goes into the chrysalis?
They don't look like they will break down easily in metamorphosis (which is a miracle in itself).
