Ghost Ship?!

Yes this is the ship you see at the very beginning of Father Ted, The Plassy, shipwrecked on Craggy Island (Inisheer or Inis Oirr, Aran Islands) since 1960. Apparently the crew got a little bit drunk, didn't see the lighthouse lights and got marooned on Inis Oirr. Sadly the last remaining crew member died in 2009, he would have been in 70's I guess.

The sky was awful so I added another one (taken in Newcastle, County Down). I rarely resort to this type of drastic manipulation but the original sky was simply appalling. I'm quite pleased with this result, but does it look real and believable?

The ship can actually be seen on Google Maps!

All comments, good, bad or indifferent very welcome indeed. Votes and awards (yeah right) just as welcome!

yeah, it works. I might have been tempted to reduce the sky a bit, give the ship something to contrast against. It sort of all blends into one. Its not a bad shot, or shots, I just think I would have seperated the top half ofthe ship from the sky some more.

Does that make sense? lol

Your comments make a lot of sense. The original sky would not have got a single vote or comment, this one is a lot more interesting but the ship doesn't really stand out enough as you state. I will probably need to play around with the new sky and make sure the clouds are in the right place for the ship to contrast against, some very valid points made. Thanks again.

when you add the sky, as a seperate layer, use the opacity slider to reduce the effect a bit, see if that helps.
