Ghostly light in the gathering darkness

By dudler
Inspired by dark_lord and markst33's posts yesterday - Keith experimenting iwth off-camera flash, and explaining how it's done, and Mark's portrait lit with a light wand.

This is the cheap, continuous and safe alternative -a water-resistant, portable workman's LED light. Waiting a little longer so that hte ambient light could get darker would have altered the effect, in interesting ways - but we were right at the end of the shoot, and we were both getting chilly. Neena especially so, as she was wearing less than I was! (Though more than she usually does when close to a camera.)

And if we'd hung around too long, the Mother Ship might have beamed us up.

Lovely work with the LED light - Neena 's hair blends in with the plants around her - a beautiful wood nymph!

I think the colour palette (not to mention the actual idea) is superb. Wonderfully autumnal and woodnymph-like, it's ever so effective Smile The only bit I'm not keen on is that white sky, as I think it detracts from the lower half a little. So my mod is simply a crop to remove the upper portion of the image.

Rather jealous of this actually, as it's such a simple idea (no offence!) but the result is just so beautiful.

Brilliant crop, Tanya. I wish I'd thought of that...

I like this idea of lighting. Much easier than flash. This is so subtle and the model's hair gorgeously combines with the grasses. Love Tanya's mod.

It is easier in many ways using a continuous light source as you can see the effect, both in terms of direction/shadows and intensity/balance.

I like Tanya's crop, though I think the full image would have worked well later as you suggest.

If I hadn't read your explanation John I would've sworn that you were using a cardboard cut out Smile A really weird effect and no doubt what you were after.

Could you not just leave her to relieve herself in piece?
