Giant Atlas Moth

By SteveMoulding
A Giant Atlas Moth and pupae. Such a beautiful moth that can be the size of an adults hand and sometimes larger.

Many thanks for all your kind views, votes and comments on my images. A special thank you to Peter and Paulo for their valued User Awards on my Bali Starling.

Kind regards,
Steve.

Wow, so big and so beautiful. Reminds me of an American Indian design.

They are fully mature from the moment they emerge from their pupae case, as are all moths/butterflys, have no mouthparts and live on fat reserves. They only survive for 4-7 days. Sorry but there's no such thing as a young.... They are adults or caterpillars Smile

Great looking insects, nicely photographed.

Thank you Kevin for the information, I have corrected the misinformation that was here. I assumed it was young as it had recently emerged from the pupae, my mistake. As you're now aware my knowledge of invertibrates is limited.
