Glasses in Little Moreton Hall

By xwang
I just thought that some of you might be interested in this, so I put the two windows together to show you. I actually missed these windows, the lady who works there showed me and asked me if I could take a photo.... I learnt that some of the glasses were thrown in the moat outside the house, National Trust people fished them out and put them back. Unfortunately, I can't read them, some of them are very poetic.. The top of the right side one was 'scratched' in 1844. Thanks for looking.

Excellent, Jasmine - I love Little Moreton Hall.
I particularly like the way you have included part of the hall in the bottom left corner of this image.

I tried to read them too but only got a couple of words. The handwriting in the 19th c. one was so elegant. I wonder if all those that were written on were in different windows?

Good restoration work to show meaningful windows.
Probably there is an information leaflet to list the engravings.

Excellent pair of pictures!
