"Glistening Inkcaps"

By RonnieAG
I posted an image a few days back and entitled it Glistening Inkcaps but further research in my books and on-line now makes me think it was of the Common Inkcap.
However, I am confident that today's image is of Glistening Inkcaps (Coprinellus Micaceus) and as I had to use fill-in flash it shows why these mushrooms might be so called.
The tiny glistening spots are remnants of the universal veil and they tend to disappear with age or can be washed away by heavy rain.
This shot was taken last evening about 9.00pm. in the forest in Pollok Country Park, my usual hunting ground for mycological specimens.
The tallest mushroom is about 2 inches high.

My thanks to all who commented on What Am I.

Ronnie.

A very well composed and captured image from a wonderful low level point of view. The flash bringing out the best of the colour and the detail.

Well, whatever you title your fungi, Ronnie, they're all delightful images, and we're not going to nit-pick over the title! Grin Another beauty here, and like how your lighting seems to make them appear to be rising up out of the dark Smile
