Gloster Meteor

By dark_lord
I'm revisiting some older images shot on film.
A Gloster Meteor NF11 (WM167, G-LOSM) at the RAF Cosford Air Show on 20 June 1993.
Canon EOS 5, Kodacchrome KL 200.
This has been given the Nik treatment, and to be fair the original was pretty devoid of colour.

The aircraft was built by Armstrong Whitworth in 1952 at Baginton. When this image was taken the aircraft belonged to Bournemouth Aviation Museum. It was acquired by Air Atlantique in March 2004.

It's interesting to note that at the start of WW2 Gloster were making the Gladiator biplane. Before the war had ended they were making state of the art jet fighters.

Thank you to everyone who commented or voted on Seedy.

Wonderful shot and great processing. It's also interesting to note that bi-planes like the Swordfish and the Gladiator (not to mention the bi-planes in Russia) saw combat action in WW-II and in six years the technology had made a couple of quantum leaps. Extend that timeline another six years to include the Korean war and prop-driven fighter planes become virtually extinct.

The Nik treatment works well for me it gives the right kind of feel to the image. Good work.
Nice dramatic, grainy effect in the shot. Remember when about 7 y.o., c 1955, looking through the perimeter fence at RAF Wattisham and watching two or three dozen Meteors doing circuits and bumps.
