Taken at Llangollen Station during the first Steam, Steel and Stars Gala in 2007.
The railway line through Llangollen was part of the Great Western Railway - God's Wonderful Railway, alternatively The Great Way Round or Goes When Ready - and ran from Ruabon on the main Chester to Shrewsbury line to Barmouth on the Welsh coast.
Consisting of mainly single track with numerous passing places the line was very scenic and followed the valley of the River Dee for most of the way.
Closed in 1965 as part of the Beeching cuts the 7 mile section from Llangollen to Carrog has reopened as a tourist railway with a further 2 mile extension to Corwen planned.
The locomotives in the picture are Great Western 14xx No. 1450 and Great Western 94xx No. 9466.
Thanks for looking.
