Going Home

By chase
Another of my entries for Camera Club on the theme of Abstract/Derivitive.
This one won second place.

The Shell is a whole Nautilus Shell, which I borrowed from a colleague.I needed to see the construction of the inside,so I x-rayed it several times, popped the images onto a memory stick & took them home & into Photoshop to combine a few.No Raw files to be had as the images are only produced in a format to be converted to an 8 bit jpeg.
I inverted the x-ray from B&W to W&B & used a gradient to colour it.
Dropped on a snail & leaf & blended.Added a couple of textures, drew some birdy shapes & then the good ole flood filter came into play Wink

Would you hang it on your wall ?? Wink
Fun doing it though Wink

See V2 if you are interested in the x-ray.

Thanks for dropping by.
Janet xx

Well, I would hang the left part of the picture on the wall, but I'm not overkeen on snails so would probably have to crop that out! I know it would ruin the photo but you did ask! Love the shapes and reflections though. Very inventive. Smile

Wow -- a lot of work but well worth the effort. AND -- VERY clever technique. Thanks for including all your commentary with this posting. The X-ray is fascinating.
Nicely done. AND -- Yes, this is wall worthy.

Beautiful and sounds a ton of work. I actually love the b/w xray image too. I'd hang both of them on a right wall. ........Sandy

It works well. Havent seen the flood filter used in ages, and that X-Ray is a great touch. A wall hanger for me.

Lovely conceptual Jan and well good for stepping off the comfort blanket !

But perhaps a palette clash ?

Maybe that harsh lime green isn't complimenting the pastels to well though, looks a blob of radioactive dayglow paint chucked on.

Have a glance at Diane Owens work , she restricts the hues real well.

Slapped a mod
