Going Underground..

By WhiteRose1
But I don't get what this society wants
I'm going underground (going underground)
Well, let the brass bands play and feet start to pound
Going underground (going underground)
So let the boys all sing and let the boys all shout for tomorrow
.......... The Jam

Named after a nearby pub, and built in 18034, Swiss Cottage Underground Station was originally called Swiss Tavern. The new station initially operated as part of a combined station with the Metropolitan Line (Metropolitan Line and 3 and 4 were Bakerloo Line) but the Metropolitan Line station was closed on 17 August 1940. The station was subsequently transferred along with the rest of the Stanmore branch to the Jubilee Line when it opened on 1 May 1979. The reason for the photo - the wonderful Art Deco brass lamps.

Couldn't use the tripod so Iso2000, 1/125s, f4.5. Grabbed a few shots then jumped on the train before the Station Supervisor sent the posse down GrinGrin

Nice symmetrical comp, all the more impressive for being hand held; ISO 2000 looks good at this resolution. The lamps are lovely and the iconic tube sign indicating the way out offers location information as well as a bit of social comment on the rat race (note only one person following the advice while the rest roll down into the bowels of London).
