Golden oldies

By HobbitDave
A small folding film camera from about 1937. The Kodak Duo was a very well-engineered German camera made from1933-37, which took 620 film. They were made with either a Kodak Anastigmat lens or like this one with a Carl Zeiss Tessar 75mm f4.5 lens. In their day they were very well regarded, as they still are today by aficionados. No point and shoot like todays digital cameras, you had to choose the aperture and the shutter speed, and focus the camera manually. Worth it though, as it produced sharp images. When you think how much cameras and IT have developed over the last 80 years it is more than awesome 😀

Thanks kindly for the clicks and comments on my recent uploads, they are very welcomed and appreciated 🐈

Lovely old camera and well taken Dave. The problem with all the new bells, whistles and buttons cameras is that they take over! I use mine in manual mode but it fights against it! WinkWinkWink Maybe I should listen to it more...Tongue

I know what you mean, Kath, my camera has a few choice expletives when asked to perform manually. A friend says hes working on a new menu addition for it, which will give the camera two options, one is WTF? the other is JUST DO IT! - for manual mode you would choose the latter 😀😀

No auto exposure or autofocus here! At least it would be quite compact when folded up. A fine-looking camera here, Dave 😃👍👍

Hmmm, not sure Karen, I think being electronic-free had/has its advantages too! 🙂

Nice old cameras they were too, Cliff, perhaps put pics up? The Franks Solidas were a great series of folders, they even made the last one with light meter and rangefinder I think, the iii L 🌟 I recall a Franka Rolfix from the early 50s, a nice 6x9 format folder with a rangefinder 👌

Dave 🙂
Lovely old piece of camera equipment Dave, as may know here on the island we have Dimbola the home of Julia Margaret Cameron.
It is now open as a Museum and has a wonderful gallery full of her work and others and a collection of old camera's etc. We have spent many a day browsing through there. I must admit personally that i'm really pleased to be in possession of something that gives me some idea of what on earth i am doing!
