Golden Ripples

By MrsS
Second upload from Talacre on Sunday. Had a really good time, and took a few shots too Wink

Not much there in the way of fg detail, so I had to make the most of the reflections in the sand.

Been having trouble with my processing lately, Paul said that some of it lacks contrast and is "muddy". So, honest opinions, please, and feel free to either comment here or PM me, but don't worry about sparing my blushes, as I would really like to know what I'm doing wrong. So thanks for stopping by, and even heartier thanks for any comments Smile

Cheers!
Fran x

A much better composition than yesterday's, Fran.
The colour is nicely subtle, and I think the contrast looks fine to me!

not sure but I might be tempted to chop a little off the top so that it's not a 50/50 split, but I know nowt so I'll keep mi gob shut Wink Prefer it to yesterdays though Smile

Compositionally a better image than yesterdays Fran,I like the line of water/ripples leading to the lighthouse.I think it may benefit from a slight crop from the top as has been suggested.
If it makes you feel any better..I get 'muddy' images too !! I wish I knew the answer Wink

'Golden Ripples'... sounds like a cheap chardonnay based wine but I digress...lol..

These are difficult shooting conditions I think because of the lack of cloud. I see what Paul means. I think if you wanted more contrast, you could select just inside the sandy area down to the bottom, feather it to maybe 50 pixels and adjust the levels a bit. I do like seeing the detail on this side of the lighthouse, so increasing contrast in the sky might make you lose a lot of detail.

I do like how the water forms almost a curving pathway on the right side. And the ripples do look good.

Ooooo, very nice, much brighter than mine, I think this is fabulous. It shows the light just how it was. I like the composition too.

Because there was no cloud I think it was actually a bigger challenge to come away with something as nice as this as its all too easy to lose detail in the sky.

Very nice image, very nicely done

ps I quite like the almost 50/50 split.

Actually, this shot doesn't look that bad at all in comparison to some of your previous shots ... will need to see it on your laptop for sure though. Could do with a little more punch and a touch more saturation, but this does seem better.

Hi Fran. The ripples in the water look really interesting and I wonder if you had gone lower with the camera position you might have reduced the amount of sand between these and the lighthouse. Hope you get what I mean. I love the tones, not to in your face.
All in all a very pleasing shot.

Amazing colours to that lovely sky which is highlighted by the wonderful refections in the pool of water covering the rippled sand.
Oh yes...I like the lighthouse too.
